ATM 2026: The national marathon runners shouldn't miss – Everything you need to know before race day

Close out the year 2026 with Thailand's grandest marathon, the Bangkok Marathon 2026, once again with the Amazing Thailand Marathon Bangkok 2026 presented by TOYOTA (ATMBKK 2026), popularly known by runners as "ATM2026". This event, which holds the title of Thailand's official capital city marathon, is being held for the 9th consecutive year. This year comes with many exciting changes, including the event format, race routes, and special highlights that have made this event one that runners across the country are eagerly awaiting.

The positive response from last year has resulted in ATM2026 expanding its format even further, moving from a one-day event to two full days to accommodate the number of runners, which continues to pour in at a similar level to last year (around 48,000 people). It also maintains its World Athletics certification across all 3 distances, building on its accumulated success and reputation to become larger and more organized than ever before.

During the past ATM2025 (8th edition), Her Majesty the Queen participated in the 21.1 km half-marathon, crossing the finish line alongside Eliud Kipchoge, the world's only legendary marathon runner—an impressive scene widely discussed by runners and the media alike.

Held over 2 days for better management

This year, ATM2026 has extended its duration from 1 day to 2 full days to ensure a smoother experience for over 48,000 runners, with the competition schedule as follows:

• Saturday, November 28, 2026: 21.1 km Half Marathon, starting at 4:00 AM in front of MBK Center, Phaya Thai Road.
• Sunday, November 29, 2026: Full Marathon (42.195 km), 10 km, and 4.5 km Family Run, starting from Sanam Luang, Ratchadamnoen Road.

All distances finish at the same location, the Thawon Watthu Building (Red Building) at Sanam Luang, with 100% road closures supported for both days.

Routes designed for setting new records, passing famous landmarks

The ATM2026 race route is flat and fast, suitable for runners of all levels to achieve a Personal Best. Throughout the course, runners will pass major landmarks such as Lumpini Park, Victory Monument, the Equestrian Statue, Wat Benchamabophit, the Golden Mount, the Giant Swing, and Ratchadamnoen Road before finishing at Sanam Luang.

This is an atmosphere that cannot be found at other races in Thailand, especially the marathon distance, which starts in front of the Supreme Court, passes over the Rama VIII Bridge, and loops back through Silom and Sathorn before returning to the same finish line.

The event is also certified by World Athletics across all 3 distances (Marathon, Half Marathon-Elite Label, and 10 km), making the results internationally credible and allowing elite runners to register in the "Fast Runner" (Block A) group at no extra cost if they meet the specified criteria.

Once registered, runners will receive the following:

• Race bib with a world-class timing chip, plus online results reporting and an E-Certification.
• Finisher shirt for marathon and half-marathon finishers (subject to availability, first-come-first-served).

• High-level safety with over 1,500 personnel monitoring the entire route, including motorcycle teams, rescue teams, and professional medical staff.

Royal Trophies and major cash prizes

One of the charms of ATMBKK is the 12 Royal Trophies for the general male and female winners of the marathon, half-marathon, and 10 km distances, along with over 229 honorary trophies across various age groups.

In terms of prize money, the overall marathon winner will receive as much as 8,000 USD, while the half-marathon champion receives 5,000 USD. There are also separate cash prizes for Thai runners (Thai Overall) and numerous age groups, making it one of the highest-paying races in the ASEAN region.

Important schedule

• Nov 26-27, 2026, 11:00 AM - 8:00 PM — Bib and race kit collection for all distances at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center (must be collected in person or by proxy; collection is not available on race day).
• Nov 28, 2026 — Half marathon race day. Start at 4:00 AM, cutoff at 8:00 AM.
• Nov 29, 2026 — Marathon race day (start at 2:00 AM, cutoff at 9:30 AM), 10 km (start at 6:00 AM), and 4.5 km Family Run (start at 6:45 AM).
